T25 Interior

I am looking to update the interior of my T25. It is all covered in a horrible white lining that shows up every stain and mark. My van is red so think that red inside might be a bit over baring but black could be too dark and make it feel smaller!. Is it essential to that the shell covered in the inside? Would it make a difference in the heat of the van? What type of material would you recommend for the interior and site links. I have done much research however, get easily confused with which type of stretchy carpet to get, woven? not woven? ARGH!!

Any ideas could be greatly appreciated

we are in the same boat as you, got my T25 couple of months ago and it was fully carpeted with BROWN household carpet, awfull
i have no idea what to put on the inside, not sure wether to ply it first and then cover it, or leave the ply off and just use that 4 way streatchy stuff
but if you ply it 1st you can at least get some insulation behind it :ok

You can buy replacement board sets from eBay and then carpet them with proper stretch automotive carpet.

Megavan mats sells excellent stretchy carpets, specifically for this purpose. Use his high temp glue too. It's dead easy, warmer and looks great!

While you have the panels off, insulate behind them, just don't use Rock Wool as it holds moisture and condensation leading to rust.

I have some lovely colour carpet too! I know there are some places that you can put the panels already covered just need to be careful with the colours and make sure they match. My big issue is around the windows the top half of the shell, carpet or not? black or red as white seems to no longer be made.

Megavan mats are good. Thanks for the pointer re rock wool I didn't know that, do you have an alternative type of insulation?

A lot of people use the similar stuff but made from recycled plastics etc.

I used 5mm foam mat with a silver foil backing ( Tescos budget gym mats), with silver bubble wrap. I also used some Rockwool, but I sealed it in heavy duty polythene bags first to stop warm air getting snide and cooling and then condensing.

While you're at it, consider using self adhesive flashing tape (roofing stuff) to stop the larger panels drumming and reduce road noise, especially over wheel arches etc.

I have just recovered the door panels in mine with anthracite coloured carpet from megavan mats. Also covered the panels and seat boxes. Tidies it up, also bought a set of the mats with orange trim as the van is orange. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures of the work I did over the weekend

Image
recovered dash tidy as old one was looking a bit knackered. The ash tray was also falling apart so made an insert for my ipod/iphone

Image
Recovered door cards with carpet, haven't done anything around the windows, just left as they are.

Image
New mats fitted from megavan mats orange trim matches the rest of the van

Also started work on the back of the van, replaced carpet with vinyl tiles, which will be easier to keep clean. Recovered the cupboard doors, waiting for new catches to arrive.

Split charge relay and battery status indicator arrived today, so thats next weekend work sorted.

Just tidying up a few things really to put my stamp on it

Looks good, impressive work. what type of paint did you use on the dash? Also where are the seat covers from?

All the paint work was already done when I bought it. The seat covers were also already fitted.

Body work was also done previously, so just the interior to sort. Need to get some foam for the pop up roof bed, but not a priority.

I've carpetted with mega van mats mega stretch in silver around the windows and smoke on door cards. My van had a rubber seal on the inner edge of the internal window frame to bridge the gap between frame and window, I think it looks pretty neat.

That looks great very impressed. Wished mine looked like that. Wouldn't mind doing mine again in white bit they don't do it at megavan mats it's more of a straw colour

Rob,

Which type of carpet did you use for around the windows

1: mega stretch anthracite lining carpet.
2: trim velour graphite lining carpet
