Hi,

After some help, Ive got a date next week with a Picky MOT tester.

Hes has picked up that my Number plate light is flashing when the indicator is on. the wiring behind the number plate light didnt look great so I decided just to reaplce it. I was taking a power feed from the lights on the cluster and earth to the body... its an improvement but still has a faint flash ... the lights for the number plate are LED.

So its not as bad as it was but still slight dim and bright flash. but always on. I have tried the taking a power feed from the other side and the same, ive tried earthing it a diff location and still the same.

any ideas what I could do to resolve this please?

The cluster itself has a dodgy earth - the current for the indicator's taking the path of least resistance (literally), which happens to be through the number plate light bulb.

I know this maybe a daft question..... do I need to find a better earth for the light clusters? or is it a problem inside the cluster? Dont suppose you know which wire is the earth on the cluster?

Haven't got one to hand off the van, but a quick google image search suggests it earths through one of the mounting bolts. Take it off, have a good look - it'll be obvious.

Thanks guys,

the current earth is on the horizontal bar, I may try and run another to the battery earth to see if this resolves it
