Checked the glow plugs on the syncro this morning,rather than screw them out i used a laser thermometer, all plugs 12c before testing,turned ignition on twice,but did not start this would warm the plugs up then rechecked with thermometer all now showed 14c to 16c so all heating no need to unscrew.Good way to find dodgy ones.

If this method has been used before sorry but thought it was worth posting feed back welcome.

I just use my fingers - you don't lose them so often as gadgets! It's a bit easier in winter to notice the difference.

Useful if they have failed completely, not so useful if they are weak or only partially working.

A new glow plug will give an almost white/yellow glow within 3 - 5 seconds, a worn lazy plug will take much longer to heat and only reach a dull orange.
