Hi guys,

Just looking at rims for Betty, I can't find what the largest diameter rim is that you can get away with on Wiki.

Is it 18" or can you get away with 20's?

That's too big!! I would go max 16 inch maybe 17 other wise you will have problems with ET clearance etc and then the tyres have to be the same rolling diameter as standard or your gearing will be completely screwed!
I am going to change mine soon for either 16 inch ML's or Tolimans.

Regards
Steve

As above...16's & 17's give the best ride.....I prefer 16's.

Anything above those sizes and you will regret it....especially on a camper.

I have a set of 18s on mine with no issues and I also had 19s to but the side door rubbed the rear wheel because the were wide. Only thing is I think they look to big I'm guna go down to 16s or 17s.

wasn't being funny chap, if the car's unladen kerb weight is the same as your bus then cool...

Mercs are a good start, heavy cars/4x4's

I had 19" wheels fitted fine apart from the side door rubbed the rear wheel. Have 18" amg monoblock at the mo, although i love the wheels they do look to big. So I would agree 16 poss 17. I wana drop my van down 70 mm so I will be going down to 16s poss 17s if they would fit (anyone know?)

I have 16'' with 215-55 16 tyres fitted and south african type mudflaps and they touch the ground if I hit a big enough dip in the road,I just hear a quick scrape noise but they look ok just a mark on the bottom edge of the mudflap, been on for 3 years and all ok

I have 18" and brickwerks -70mm springs and apart from the wheels looking a bit on the big side they are fine, I use it everyday with no grief. I think -70 would be too low for a heavy camper tho.

Think I'd be looking at GVW, rather than kerb weight. A quick google suggests that even a Mondeo estate has a GVW around 2.4t, compared to 2.5t on our vans.

I used porsche cayenne wheels with extra load tyres, the the cayenne has a gvw of 2840, which should be more than enough for a t25. I didn't fancy using car wheels and tyres for a van.
