Hi All,

This post will help any DG engine owners and possibly others, see pic's. I had constant acceleration and /or idle problems but they're now solved.

Engine breather tower to carb hose was the problem it turns out and was replaced by an affordable grey washing machine hose made from plastic.

These are the dimensions to help those who want to save £59.50 at just kampers

More dimensions, the pipe is slightly curved so add a little on, cut further down and trim to fit your engine.

It works very well for something that cost me nothing and it has worked perfectly since fitting (6 months) with none of the acceleration/ idle problems. The pipe does not collapse or expand with varying pressures. It doesn't melt with the engine bay temperatures.

If you want a bit more information read on.

Original Part Problem: disintegrating 29 year old breather tower hose to air filter for 1900cc and 2100cc. 025129493A.

Observations: the pipe does not show any obvious exterior cracking or disintegration, it's all internal. If you flush it through with water black rubber dandruff appears, shown best against a white porcelain sink. This blocks the carb jets within miles and will re-occur even if flushed well.

Driving Symptoms: rubbish acceleration and/ or tick over especially after a kick-down i.e the second venturi is activated through hard acceleration and extra vacuum/ airflow through breather pipe.

Frequency: approx. every 100-150 miles after cleaning pipe through or after hard acceleration.

Short term fix: spray carb and jets with carb cleaner, flush through breather pipe.

Long term fix: replace breather hose, but it costs £ 59.50 from just kampers.

Long term affordable fix: use the washing machine hose with the rubber angled end and clip.

Second hand 025129493A are hard to come by, I asked billy739 if he had one and rightly he said they would probably be naff anyway.

I hope you get some help from my post.

Iridium.
