Has anybody attempted to change the heater cables on ther Aircooled machines. I have had mine returned from a guy who thought he knew what he was doing as I didnt have the time to replace mine.

Anyway when the lever is moved left to right and back again on the dash. Nothing seems to be doing anything at the heater pod end!

It also looks like the cable is bending behind the dash when the cable is pushed backwards.

I am going to do this myself, so need to check whether it has been secured correctly at the dash control before working on the back end.

I have checked the levers at the wheel end and they move ok, and always default back to the start position.

I love that when some kind soul thinks he knows what they are doing and then gives up,,,,,,,,,,,

I must admit these cables are a bit of a test of patients when it comes to the sorting out stage at the dash end.

The problem you are having sounds familiar as once the cables start to dry up it only takes one agressive push/pull on the levers to c@ck the whole thing up. Once this stage has been reached the only fix is to fit new control cables.

If you think it is going to be a ball ache of a job an alternative way of sorting the problem is to tie the flaps at the back end fully forward to get hot air to the front and then just make sure the screen/footwell control is working which it should be as it uses the shortest cable of them all.

On my screen/footwell lever-the top one I'm assuming-there is a second cable attached to the rear of the cable, behind the footwell/screen one, and I've no idea where it goes or what it does, but it was bent and stopping me moving the lever properly. And someone seems to have tied 2 cables together on the hot/cold lever! The bottom 2 sliders seem ok, though they hardly make any difference to anything, other than slow the air down slightly to the rear vents and the side vents! Dodgy heater controls just in time for winter......
