Hi, new to T25s after a few years with an early bay sadly lost to an engine fire. I guess the glass-half-full angle is it gives me chance to learn about a new bus. New bus is a 90 autosleeper in grand nick, no rust yet and original paint but there are like hairlines in the paint on some seams which I guess over time will cause me probs. Any tips on how to prevent rust from this starting point? I've thought of dribbling some hot dinitrol down the seams while van is dry, it worked well at penetrating the nooks and crannies on the old bus. TIA, Brian

There are endless threads on this subject - those seams, especially at the bank end of the bus - are a nightmare, and all models are affected, though the earlier ones are a bit worse. I won't bore you with how to deal with it - like I say, there's loads on this subject on the various boards - but it's not easy, and the rust usually comes back eventually. Design fault.

And to add, it often is coming from the inside, so treating it from the outside is not going to delay it much

as for cracking,hmmm its been attended to by somebody already then, can you post up a few picks of the areas and also around the fuel filler

you wont prevent it , its inevitable!

you just need to slow the process.

im always spraying wd40 or similar along my seams , no one will know until the future arrives tho

As everyone above says, you just need to slow the process down - make sure the van is kept clean, wax the seams & gutters (especially at winter time) & regularly clean and wash out the arches. I use Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 in the arches and in all the nooks and crannies.

Hi all, thanks for thoughts, some pics of fuel filler area. I have searched for prevention, but most posts seem to relate to prevent reoccurence. Hope images are visible to those interested, and further thoughts gratefully received. Cheers, Bri

filler area seam looks original from what i can make out but its had a blow over hence the cracking,

Get some good quality wax and give it a liberal coat especially in the seams. Waxing your van is probably the easiest way of preventing rust.
I don't know why more people don't do it.

When there's salt on the roads I smear wax on the seams and leave it on and wash under the van every week, make sure you get all the crud off the back of the wheel arches. There's no visible rust in mine yet!
