V.i.n plate

Hi there my vin plate is damaged and has failed mot because of it:( does anyone know if I can just stamp on the chassis or create my own plate or where to get one?

if the VIN plate shows all of the VIN number then looking at VOSA's guidance it should pass. If the VIN number isn't complete then yes its a fail. Seems a bit of a grey area if the plate is partially damaged. Not sure if you can get a replacement from VW.

Yeah, Some of the number is missing, just wondered if I can stamp it on myself?

mate in mk1 golf club made mine up as it had been removed when the front panel was replaced. Am sure he could do you one just needs the lay out and various numbers heres mine and she passed the mot month ago.

Cant they just get the number from where its stamped underneath on a out rigger?

Hi there found the vin on the chassis under near drivers front wheel. That was enough but they still said I need a plate for next year :o
