Hi All

While attempting to fit an lpg breather pipe I managed to knock off what ever holds the spring on to the accelerator cable. Is it a washer clip or a circlip that would have held it on? The manual suggests a circlip but I can't work out how it would keep the spring in place .Your help would be much appreciated.

Washer and e-clip is the usual method for this type of thing. A c-clip, e-clip or circlip would all suffice there.

Thanks for your replies. I couldn't get the van home yesterday so couldn't get photos. It's most like the last photo but the spring sits over a pin which has a groove but nothing else. Couldn't get to the van today but will try and get the circlip fitted tomorrow fingers crossed. Once again thanks for your efforts.

E D I T: the Brickwerks pipe is perfect. It seems that the " VW specialist " garage had forced the wrong pipe on thus fouling the accelerator

Probably not a lot of point now I'm afraid, The garage couldn't get the c clip to stay on because the spring was too strong. The eventually dismantled the accelerator and installed a non standard spring. That bodged pipe ended up costing me over £100!

Was a close fitting washer fitted first? - without this it would not hold. Not exactly a garage job!

Let's have a pic anyway if you can as I'm sure somebody else will end up doing the same and it would be good to see what works as a fix
Think of it as helping others in future :D
