Why would my 2.0L Aircooled engine sometimes eject oil out of the dipstick tube?

It doesn't happen all the time, normally when I've pushed the van a little hard.

Normally signs of crank case pressure. Check your Crank Case breather to see if it bunged up. If it is clear you may have a major problem on your hands :( And make sure you are putting the correct amount of oil in and not over filling

Yeah, it used to do it on my Fiat 900e camper van too. I unblocked all the breather hoses and pipes with carb cleaner and a wire coat hanger to get the solid gunk out. Take care not to hole the pipes though. I also adjusted the tappets which were miles out, and this cured it, although your tappets are hydraulic and can't be adjusted as such. There is a set up procedure according to the Haynes manual to adjust them after any sort of rebuild.
