Just took a load of stuff to the dump and spotted a weighbridge, had a chat with the guy and after I unloaded I parked on the station....,
Bearing in mind, this was a empty van internally (bar me) front luggage rack had table and chairs and roof box has a few bits it, but nowhere near fully loaded
2360KG!!!!
That only leaves me 140KG, and that'll be the wife and kids. Luggage and bikes not allowed!

So, going by my databadge im allowed a GVW of 2500kg, but combined weight i'm allowed 4500kg. Does that mean i can tow something with a weight of 2000kg?

and here's a pic of the badge of the tow bar badge, does anyone know what the numbers mean?

Yep.. Syncro can tow gross trailer of 2000kg..

Some were specced with a 2500kg but this seems to be german market application and restricted hill climb ability..

I have had 2 ton on the back of the syncro.. several times.... house stuff from France.. 2wd single cab, legacy 2.2 wagon.. etc etc
Just have to be aware that the short wheelbase can make it a little more susceptable to less stability..

I wonder how much it weighed when you went on holiday?

I must get round to weighing mine at some point. Although I'm not sure I want to know.

Must have been 3000kg or more.... Annoying really, as the new engine just pulls it effortlessly. In no way feels that heavy. Saying that though, it did feel a bit more 'spritely' after unloading it
I don't really like towing, but something will need to be done as it could ruin the holiday if your pulled over. Saying that, if the four of us go out for the day we're pretty near the limit. Will have to leave the roof box off more (like i'm going to be arsed to do that!)

And just had a thought , thats without the lead weight 16" steels fitted! they weigh a stupid amount

Going by the tabled weights in the Michael Steinke T3 book, a 16" multivan TD tintop comes in at 1675kg. A Westy Joker syncro weighs 405kg more, for interior and poptop. Annoyingly it doesn't list the Multivan with poptop, so it's hard to work out what the roof or furniture weighs on their own.

Either you've got a lot of crap onboard or that weighbridge is a bit out of calibration!

Unless you've overdone the accessories and used up all the payload? Your van in tintop form has 825 kg to play with, before any goodies are fitted...

I personally don't believe weigh bridges are all calibrated right.

When i was doing my Battery maintenance job we used to put the truck on various weighbridges and all of them gave radically different figures for the vehicle.

I'm going to a rolling road on saturday, i'll see if they have the ability to weigh it when its being tested

2360 sounds heavy! I had my 14" on a weigh bridge couple of months ago. Came in at 1660kg (empty, no driver, ~half a tank of gas). That's a petrol tintop with 15" steelies. Interior at the time was GL rear seat, multivan b2b-seat and the rubber carpets throughout. Will try and put it on the weigh bridge again with the full multivan interior fitted, but I reckon it isn't that much heavier even with the cupboards etc.

As said, calibration can be iffy.

The last time I put mine through its test it weighed in at 1880 kgs for a near standard 14" Multivan Diesel with an almost empty tank and no clutter.

i guess you all know where to weigh your scrap in then.

I reckon the 100kg would be the nose weight. The weight that can be loaded onto the hook by the trailer.
