Right folks, last question, I promise. My Haynes manual should be here soon.

I have a slight leak from a piece of hose as pictured below (the piece with the shiny jubilee clip around it). It's a piece of flexible hose, not very clear in the pic because of the repair tape wrapped around it, that connects the offside coolant pipe to another short length of pipe. I can't find a pic of the same thing on any other T25 - is this more bodgery on my new baby?

bodges are ok ... if they work, and last. Looks like this one lasted long enough for the previous owner to sell it.

obviously you may not need to replace the whole sytem, you may be able to cut back the metal pipe and re join the 2 good bits with another length of rubber pipe.

Its not rocket science just basic plumbing, so dont be afraid to get resourceful down your local plumbing centre if required ! just be aware that any repair needs to be a good repair, total water loss could ruin your day, and engine if you run it without coolant for long. But if funds dont stretch to a full replacement then a repair that keeps the van on the road could be a good thing.

To be honest, being used to aicooled VWs I didnt really know what I was looking at with regards to the cooling system. I was more concerned with the rust and grot. As I look round things and learn more about this engine, I realise that there are some issues that need addressing.

I'm glad I'm off to see jimpainter on Saturday
