Westfalia pop top roof handle broken

Hi all

I've a problem with the raising bar/hinge set up on my Westy... those of you that have one will be familiar, basically the bar you use to raise the roof runs the width of the van and also acts as the pivot for the hinges at the front that unfold/hold the thing up. The problem with mine is that, I guess just through use over time, the hinge has cut through the metal tubing of the bar.

Has anyone else had this problem... anybody know where I might find a replacement or how to get a replacement made perhaps?

Many thanks

They are made of steel so i am sure a reputable engineer/fabricator near you can make a new one or repair.
Have you tried Gunzl via the Westfalia section?

Steve

Nowt in Gunzl, have dropped a local welders a message to see if they can help.

Anyone else thats having similar issues 'adyjoad' on the brickyard forum pointed me in the direction of this thread which I hadn't come across even after loads of googling:

Though mines worse than those having cut completely through the tube (should have sorted it sooner!)

Had same problem with mine, over time the steel tube was sawn through

Had a guy weld solid tube on the end so its going to take some time to happen again :D
