too much play clutch pedal, symptoms?..

hi all, i have around 15mm 'free play' on my clutch pedal. So the push rod doesn't touch the piston on the master for the first 15mm or so of clutch pedal travel. I am going to adjust it by lengthening the push rod via the backnut to take up the slack.
I'd like to know if having all this slack causes any issues? I presume it means the piston in the master cylinder hasn't been getting it's full travel when the pedal is pressed (it's been like this for a long time...) Does this have any detriment to the clutch? Like life, improper release ect..
thanks

common problem!
its the clevis pin / pedal hole that's worn
I have removed mine and fitted a larger pin.
sound like a bad problem , but if you take it to bits you will actually see the wear is minimal , it just seems lot when in place.
so far as yet hasent made any difference or caused any problems on any vans I have known
also you shouldn't need or be pressing the clutch pedal to the floor on each operation unless there are other issues!

Thanks for reply
I don't need to press the pedal to the floor to change gear so I'm ok on that front. I just wanted to know if it'll cause any issues. I had a problem of the clutch pedal dropping off the clutch switch for cruise control, I did a temp repair of putting a longer bracket on for the clutch so the pedal hit the switch as I knew nothing at the time of any adjustments that could be made. (fast forward 12 months)
Thanks to a great write up by Garyd I've just been out and adjusted the back nut on the rod, took all of 1/2 hour so happy dayz... The curse of old car ownership reared it's head though, as I noticed the clutch master is leaking
