Passenger Swivel Seat Alternative

This may have been done before but i thought i should mention my findings on here :-

I was lookin for a swivel seat base for my camper but due to the price i put off buying one for the passenger side and put on the back burner untill now

I had to remove the seat to clean underneath and noticed two tabs folded at the rear of the seat runner fixed to the van that prevent the seat sliding back too far

Bent them level with the rest of the runner to allow the seat to be inserted into the runner back to front EG. 180degrees

Its an ideal fix to allow your friend to sit there and have a beer :)

Cheers James

Takes about 2 minutes to mod it and seconds to turn the seat around

The good thing is you can always knock the tabs down back to standard

Think it only works with original runners. I know it does not on mine. :(

Doesn't need anything bending. There is a little catch at the front of the runner which you lift, then slide the seat forwards off the runner. Revolve and reinsert, job done.

I do this with my passenger seat whilst I save for a swivel base. I have also used the turned seat and buddy/bog box as a makeshift bed.
My buddy seat has a lift up flap on the side that converts it to a two seater, I just turn the seat sideways and line it up with the passenger seat, voila an extra sleeping position that's just wide enough.

WHS ^^^^^^^^^

I turn around the captain seat on the passenger side as soon as we park up. You just have to make sure the seat back is fully upright before sliding the seat off towards the front of the van. The main lever lets you slide it to the stop, and the catch arrowed below releases the stop. You can then flip the seat around and slide it on from the front. With captain's seats you have to slide it back on far enough for the door pull to clear the arm on the seat so the passenger door closes.
