Hi guys, I have recently got my t25 out of the garage after 6 years, she is currently in the body shop for restoration. it is a 1981 1.6 ct Aircooled, I am probably going to lean on you all for advice over the next few months while the project is kicking off. At the moment the dilemmas I face are, what size wheels can I put on the van before I have to to get the sliding door modified? Also I am changing the engine for 2.0 Aircooled, I have the engine that runs but need a gearbox, anyone have one for sale?

I'm running a 255/50 17 tyre on Porsche cup 1 alloys and the side door just about clears without modification, with 20mm adaptors.

If you've been on Brickwerks looking for parts, you'll have seen the van before!

I've fitted porsche cayenne turbo wheels recently using the brickwerks adapters and have no problems with the door hitting them, I've got 245 45 18 on the rear and 235 45 18 on the front the wheels are all 8".

No mention at all regarding offset(ET) of the above wheels....and that's just,if not more, important than the width.
However I wouldn't advise going anywhere near 17" or 18" alloys on a 1.6CT van....it only just has enough power to move without having to try and turn wheels that size.
