Another squeelie wheel thread

Hi all, I have a squeal that seems to be coming from the offside rear wheel, it only starts after a mile it two. It's not constant but increases and decreases in speed with the rotation of the wheels, gets louder the further into the journey we get and briefly disappears when I touch the brakes.
Really want to take her out for a drive tommorow as its our first weekend having it but I'm worried it might be something potentially dangerous.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Thanks

your brake pads need greasing
remove the pads and copperslip the backs.
Cheap pads will often squeel.
Also a seizing piston in the caliper.

its not dangerous...just annoying and embarrassing

That's great thanks. I just picked it up Wednesday so haven't accumulated any bits I might need fix problems. The fella I bought it off is gonna sort any niggles out but is away for the week and my mechanic is not answering his phone, prob gone away for bank holiday.
Sounds like the greasing I could probably manage, so long as its not gonna kill us ill go for a wee spin.
Thanks again Kev:)

Last time I worked on the brakes of my car I wrote the car off due to not being able to stop vey well, luckily there was another car there to act as a tire wall
So I'm a bit dubious about playing around with this.
