I was told the engine

Diesel starters off 1.6, 1.6td or a 1y possibly?

i have tried one off a passat 2.0 & a td and a golf 1.6d

different bell housings ,you need one from or for a t25 diesel pal

It is basically the block and head/turbo/fuel pump that has changed - the ancillaries like starter, alternator, sump, water pump, power steering etc tend to be from the original engine (not always as it depends upon who did the swap).

I think it is the T25 gearbox & starter,i was told today by the mechanic that the starter motor is ok, but it is missing a little collar, VW heritage have them but i do not know which one as i do not have one to comapre it against, 13mm inside size and 17mm outside size
any ideas

looking for a starter bush, and dont know which one i need, 1.6 d engine 1989 T25
can anyone help
