Nothing wrong with well tuned and maintained Solex.
I'm lucky, there is a carb specialist local to me who makes any old carb do its job better than when it left the factory.
Hence my view.

They made absolutely no difference to my policy. I always declare any mod.

However they made my vans mpg increase, rolling torque increase, wheel bhp increase and best of all the van sounded like god gargling at anything from half throttle on!!

As for the swap your looking at an afternoon and a rolling rd session.

See stateside tuning for a kit.

Sounds fun.
How much did he brake upgrade cost to cope with the extra bhp ?

there's absolutely No need for a brake upgrade when you gain 20 bhp in a van designed to brake whilst carrying a tonne payload which your camper certainly won't be carrying. Nor will you need a racing helmet or goggles or a msa liscence or a doctors note.

However it seems your dead against any form of modification from your negative posts.

Perhaps it would be gentlemanly to bow out of this thread if you have nothing positive to add.

In a Forum, people are entitled to express a difference of opinion without being told to "butt out "..........

I actually like modifications, when the end result gives better going and stopping.
Surprised at the "dont need the brake upgrade" statements
But, of course thats only a matter of opinion, to which you are entitled.

My opinion differs from yours, I would upgrade the carbs and the brakes as well.
Thats something positive to the post.
If you see it as different, each to his own.
Thats why we have a van each ! :ok

The increase in horsepower would add very little to the top speed maybe 15 or 20 mph.
What the Delortos deliver is torque, this makes the van more drivable and less stressed with the weight

The brakes fitted to a 2.0l CU are the same IIRC

I am mistaken.
from previous posts i was under the impression that the Delortos made the old wedge shaped rust bucket go like a rocket machine, causing ear to ear grins, whilst making the sound of God gargling :rofl

Now, back to those tuned Solex

Joking aside, either are probably better than an out of adjustment set of carbs that havent been looked at for years, which is common for many vans.
