Engine mounting replacement

Please could someone advise:
What the procedure is?
Is it easy ?
What should I watch out for ?

4 mountings, two inner, two outer (two types). Jack up and support with axle stands on the rear, you need a jack or other to reliably support the engine so the engine support with it's 4 metalastic mountings can be removed.
So support the engine (using a large piece of wood to spread the load) undo the four outer engine support mounting bolts...if all four of the mountings are broken the bar will just fall off, if one or more are still attached the bar will just hang and the top side of the mountings will need undoing.
Each of the mountings has an 8mm nut and washer holding the top of the mounting, you may need an 8mm 3/8th drive flexi socket and longish extension bar to get directly onto all four of the top nuts.
Once the mountings are removed it's just a case of reversing and reassembling but leave everything loose until the weight of the engine is back on the mounts (4 support bolts refitted) so the mounts aren't under unnatural twist etc.

Pretty easy job really, a bit of a pig getting straight onto the top 8mm nuts (I think it's the inners that are more awkward) and then just lining up the threaded studs on the mountings with the holes in the aluminium sub mounting (rear of the engine) and the cross bolts...just time consuming but quite rewarding at the same time.
Be prepared with some new 8mm bolts and lock nuts for the outer chassis to mount bar...they seize up and break (Just good quality 30mm length, something like that)

I believe the silencer has to come off to get the bolts out ?

Hmmm? not on my Ian (Brickwerks SS system) which I believe is pretty standard size and shape wise. I guess he'll have to try and see, fingers crossed.

I have heard mixed reports regarding the need to remove exhaust in order to fit new mountings.
I shall let you know how mine goes.

I dropped the ally cradle off complete as I had a complete assembly to chuck on so had to remove the long bolts into the casing BUT my silencer had to come off which is why I scheduled the mount change then.

Well it's completely the other end so to speak, and so it's of no consequence whether it's done at the same time.
I would say 'if it's not broken then leave it alone'.
