Size of Bolt to Fix Alternator to Chassis

Can Anyone tell me the size of bolt I need on a T25 1983.
It's the two bolts that fix the bracket which enables the Alternator to anchor to the chassis/engine.
I've just aquired the t25 and it looks like both original bolts are missing.. meaning alternator is not properly anchored

Not sure about the bolt size:
However :
A van I used to have never had the alternator correctly anchored because the end the bolt went in to was stripped.
The alternator was held on by a large kind of Jubilee Clip, which worked fine.
Its not a 1.9 petrol hightop you have by any chance is it ?
Red with a white roof ?
I may be able to give you some decent history if its the same van................

I haven't checked on ETKA but they will be M8 and I would imagine they will be something shortish like 16mm long, possibly 20mm.

Thanks to Vanisveryruty and Ian Hulley.
Firstly Ian - yes sorted all done, was the right bolt and is now secured and Alternator is better anchored, so feel a lot happier about taking the family on a holiday in it! New belt fitted just to make sure all is up to date! All good!
Secondly, to Vanisveryrusty, Yes it is a 1.9 Petrol. However the colour is a cream Joker and is a pop top. Would have been good if it was the same one as the alternator issues you had are exactly the same as mine. However it looks like a different one... Thanks anyway to both you guys.
Cheers
Rich - now a very happy VW owner!
