Motor cuts out below 1750rpm

Hi everyone,

Posted this problem some time ago, not yet resolved the issue hence the 'new' plea!

I have a 2.1 dj which refuses to maintain an idle, if revs fall below approx. 1750 the motor will just fade away. I have tried a new air idle valve, expensive, sods law determined it wasn't that!

Aidan suggested the relay in front of the offside rear light cluster might be the problem, unfortunately I haven't been able to source one to find out.

Fortunately the van is lpg converted so can be used providing you don't run out of gas, otherwise its plenty of revs and numerous starts when in traffic, not exactly bluemotion but stimulates language of a similar hue.

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate your input.

Many thanks, Stirling

My guess is dodgy air flow meter. Probably a bad spot on the swept track, meaning loss of output signal to ecu at low revs.

^^ I would concur... can't remember if the DJ will default to base map and run if the MAF is disconnected.. unplug it and try!

It'll idle, but won't do anything much else. You definitely notice just about as you're pulling out of the parking space.
(At least, that was what it did before the throttle position switch was adjusted properly. I've not forgotten to plug it back in since...)
