Hi
just got back from holiday in France great time, seem to be having probs with my cooler box when connecting to 12v ciggy lighter no power, do I wire 12v straight to main battery or leisure battery and what thickness of cable should I use

I wouldn't use the main battery, coolers eat power and that could result on you getting stranded.

From the Leisure Battery via a relay so that the cool box is powered only when the engine is running.
I piggy backed a further relay on the Split relay.

My cool box takes approx. 9 amps, I tried a normal ciggy lighter socket / plug - it melted.
Then I tried a DIN socket, that has some heat deformation.

For wires I used a high quality silicone sheathed multicore cable of about 1mm2.

Sorry but without sounding like a div what is a DIN socket.
