Just for info/ideas:
The previous owner of ours put in an integrated sub and amp under the o/s seat (left hooker), no idea of the make sorry but thought I would let you know that they are around... at some point at least.
They also added tweeters at either end of the dash as you say, just by the vent facing inwards. Something else they added were two more tweeters flush fitted (apart from the grill) in the back of the rearview mirror which are facing the windscreen, not tested how effective they are but with the above and speakers in the door cards the overall sound quality is quite good.

I have put some nice JBL tweeters on the dash on pods faced towards the driver, then put some pods on the door and fitted some good sized mid speakers then amp and Sub in back right behind the Rock and Roll. The sound is pretty good and not to over the top also sound proofed front doors and rest of the van, which helps alot

I recently bought and fitted a Beat BSW8ACT 8" Under Seat Sub - bought of ebay. Fits perfectly, sounds great and took 15 mins to wire in!
