Water pooling round skylight on Westy Pop Top

Hello
I have found out the skylight is leaking on my new Westy Joker which is an easy enough fix...but when I looked on the roof I noticed the water is pooling around the skylight and both channels either side of it, should this happen or should it be draining away? The roof seems to dip to the centre a little, seems strange to me

cheers HK, looking at the grooves in the poptop I would have thought it was designed for the water to flow away from the skylight

Yes i thought that. If the seal has just gone hard and you can remove it without damage you can soak it in baby oil overnight, then give it a dusting of talc powder. We used to do this to lenghts of old extrusion when i used to work in the automotive rubber industry.

Yes i thought that. If the seal has just gone hard and you can remove it without damage you can soak it in baby oil overnight, then give it a dusting of talc powder. We used to do this to lenghts of old extrusion when i used to work in the automotive rubber industry.

Do you know if the seal requires and sealant or mastic when it is fitted?

If you wish you can use Arbomast auto/marine grade mastic The grey stuff never sets and is real sticky, this stuff is used in the fitment of most of car door,boot,seals they used to have big drums of the stuff at work, it injects better into the fitting gap in the seal if you warm the tube first.
