New radio thing

Bought a Pioneer DEH-4500BT CD, radio, thing from Halfrauds today, and
I managed to fit it! Took the old one out, even managed to install the microphone wire neatly (and topped up the brake and clutch fluid while I was in there) took the old connector (thing with blocks on each end) off, replaced with new one that came with radio, plugged in arial lead, microphone lead, just managed to move all the myriad of cables out of the way so I could fit the new cage and radio, and hey, it worked
I was as surprised as you all are, pleased too.....
however, it doesn't seem to want to turn off
the only way to turn off the noise and bright lights is to flip the radio front off, a little extreme but it appears to work, but does this actually stop it drawing power from the battery? Or is my battery going flat as I type.
I don't have any electrical testing equipment and wouldn't know how to anyway, although I w careful to disconnect the battery during fitting (and then reconnected it of course)
I'm not overworried at the unorthodox switch off method and will get it sorted eventually, but I'd rather Victor had power to start in the morning.
Thanks peeps, I know someone on here will know
