What engine have you got?
Only some 1600 CT engines had points which are the same as late bay window points, all others had electronic ignition.

There should be a part number on the side of the body.

Wasn't it only the US market injection models that had points from new? That's what my manuals say, anyway.

Doesn't look very new to me...and the 'BERU' stamp on the cap means it's a quality german part so I doubt it's been tampered with.

all the terminals etc inside the cap are clean and don't look worn down etc, maybe its the cap thats quite new? we've had the van just over a year and haven't used it much so it could be quite new. the rotor arm looks ok too, but i'm going to put a new one on and put the old one in as road spares.
from other conversations i just assumed that there would be points in there, if its not something "wrong" then i'm happy.

Good to see that someone has done the essential attention to the rubber petrol pipes
And good to see proper fuel hose clips (not tiddly jubilee clips). Are the other fuel pipes in good / new nick ? This is an important subject on these vans

Hi mate, yeah did a lot of posts on the subject as I couldn't work out the size needed. I eventually went to the car spares shop. He recomended I leave the fuel line itself as its plastic and looked as new. I came away with the larger tube and fuel line clips and a filter and replaced all of it from the fuel tank onwards. Even found a bit of hose pipe!
