Hey,
Does anyone know why the radio light dims or losses power when I turn the volume up? I've taken the radio and speaker out of another car, that they sounded really nice in. But in the bus, they don't seem to be quite the same.
Thanks!

Bad earth!!!! sounds like the stereo is only earthed though the case that holds it in to the dash! check the earth, black from the stereo and brown from the van, if it is good, put another bigger earth wire to the nearest clear metal in the dash, should sort it out!

ah cool thanks for the tip!
I was really dishearten when I finally finished cutting holes, running cables underneath the floor, eagerly waited to hear the warm smooth bass, only to get a distorted sound when I turn it up....
..will the bad earth cause it to be distorted as well...?

great! Gonna try it now.
What's involved in wiring it up to my leisure battery?
I have a leisure drive conversion so the Zg unit is on the other side of my van, along with the battery
Thanks!!

Run a wire to s fuse then to your head unit.
Zig units suck, to me you are better buying a small auxilliary fusebox and wiring it direct to the aux battery then run your auxilliaries from that, radio, heater, lights etc.
Chances are that the aux battery is under the left hand front seat(?) so you will have a shorter cable run and less voltage drop from there rather thatto the zig unit which I should imagine is further away. Use "28's" wire, this will be up to the job
If you are wanting to ba able to listen to the radio while camped up then from the back of the head unit there will be yellow and red wires, connect these together then run to fresh wire to fuse box.
On a different note I have my radio on a switch so for normal driving it turns off with the ignition (Power still from aux battery) as if my radio has power it keeps a light on, which could drain the battery. When camped I flick a switch which lets me run it all the time if needed. A bit anal I know
