Having got the new faulty Sachs clutch slave replaced by another one we were driving along in the heat in traffic with speed one kicking in on the cooling fan. No problem. Then as it cut in again we hit another rut in the road and a screeching noise from the fan. I turned the engine off and on again and the noise didn't come back. Then we got stuck in traffic again. The first speed did not cut in again when the temp gauge was at about half way on the needle. Temperature went up some more and second stage of the fan cut in. Don't want to go off to France in hot weather with these problems.

So it looks like there are two problems just before our holiday. Loose fan surround and a faulty switch. Ordered a replacement switch from Brickwerks and back to the garage to sort it out while I go to work. So glad the clutch and fan problems happened before we went away.

Sods law...lol, I'm off down to ferry tomorrow and only just fixed my coolant leak, 'yesterday'.

Fingers crossed that you get it all fixed in time.

As Martin says it's sods law.

Thankfully recently I've had nails in two tyres whilst camping (quick calls to tyre places to order me a new tyre) so I got them fixed whilst away.

Recently we had a hole in our expansion tank in scotland which was temp fixed with a self tapper and some resin. Luckily we were camped at a wonderful spot when I found it so we booked a RAC tow for two days in the future.

But about a week after coming home the accelerator pedal fell off (again) as the rivets holding it on had oxidised and snapped. I had rivets, but the holes were no longer 4mm, more like 6mm Luckily this all happened whilst I was at work so I could fit some special bolts that allow you to tighten them from one side without needing to put anything on the head, which was fortunate as there is no room under there, hence the rivet design.

Sent van into the garage to fix it. No problems found. The fan is working fine again. Would you believe it. Mike put the new rad switch in anyway. Why not. These vans can be quirky! So we can now get ready for our usual trip to France. Cool!
