Sods law (coolant leak)

Two days to go to our 3 week trip around France and now a coolant leak.
After a thorough inspection, I've slowly been servicing and fixing all the bits and pieces on the van ready for the hols. I've just done the power steering pipes, brakes strip/look over/adjust and bleed, oil & filter, new wipers and then last week both belts.
Yesterday I thought I would have just one last look (as the belts often go slack as they bed in) and bugger me, the plastic coolant housing is leaking on the right side of the engine below the alternator.
Now I'm worried about getting the part in time.
Looks like Michelle has a drive to Brickwerks tomorrow morning (if that's OK Simon lol) 135 mile round trip.
Sods law as I'd only checked this over a few weeks ago! arhhhhhhh!

Thanks guys, I'm sure it'll all sort itself out.
Old part is now removed, just waiting for the new SS replacement, the old housing has got 3 small cracks in it, why VW ever made these out of plastic

They didnt learn their lesson either as the vr6 had a plastic pushfit water system. Absolute load of poop. Hope you get it sorted.

Thing is I remember all the issues they had using aluminium for their coolant housings, so I guess it's no surprise they changed to something else. Just wish that 'something else' had been stainless steel.

Big Big thanks to Ian Hulley for helping us out from his vast spares collection (replacements ordered by return post)
Half the journey and a day early has helped us out big time.
This means I'm fixing her tomorrow which gives us a day to make sure everything's as it should be before setting off to France.
Thank you very much indeed
Kindest regards from Martin & Michelle wishing you all the best on your up and coming travels.

Glad you have it sorted... at least the plastic stuff tends to come apart.. unlike the alloy stuff on the older type.
Enjoy your trip.

Tis 'the 80-90 thing' after all, it's what makes us different from the rest

Have a safe trip.
