That's a home brew all right! Fixing that will keep you out of mischief. Enjoy.

What was holding the roof on?
The ventilation through the fridge vent looks good though!

Gravity, by the look of it...
At what stage do you admit that the shell's scrap?

[braveheart mode] NEVER! [/braveheart mode]

A badly applied line of self tapping screws, less than 10% of them long enough to get to any good steel

A bad batch of brew I think.
Time to start the search for a new roof skin

From the title of your post change "some" to "a long long long "
That looks bad

As long as I'm done before I retire
Just need to source a roof, going to use the opportunity to fit a pop top instead

There's been a few great threads here about working on the roof, which are proving really helpful in researching doing the roof swap - so thanks to all that took the effort to do the work and then post up their progress. It's scaring me a lot less than when I initially suspected the roof was buggered
The under structure doesn't seem in bad condition, just the outer skin.
Guess that's what long term cooking / sleeping in a hi-top can do to a body when no anti rust measures are done.

This is going to be a very slow rebuild
Stage one, new skin unpicked and in mighty fine condition.
Currently removing the detritus that used to be called a roof from my van now, windows and tailgate off. Looks like I'll be grafting in the rear section too, 30 years of diabolical bodges have taken their toll
