How frequently should this click when lighting. Mine seems to have speed up recently? Was a slow tick now rapid fire?

Sorted it settled back down to its usual rate.

Slow tick.
Possibly a bit of rust has dropped onto the igniter but usually that just stops it ticking with mine.

Check your spark gap - this affects it.
