Keeping wing mirrors in place...

Hola,
Hope this is the right place for this topic, seemed logical... so... due to earth shattering power and performance of my tin top, when I creep over the 55mph mark, my drivers mirror folds in very neatly... I've tried taking it off and screwing the locking nut as tight as it will go, but... it's ok for a bit, then it gradually goes back to it's folding ways...
Any one got any hints, tips or tricks...?

Grease your ball, dip in sand, replace - I have done both of mine like this and have no trouble any more.

New mirrors are very cheap on amazon £16 each. If you want new shinny mirrors at the same time as fixing the folding mirrors.

Thats a good tip OBG, mine suffer from same problem and I thought about a small piece of 180 wet and dry to create the friction but I never thought of sand.......Are you a builder ?

No, just live near the beach and can remember the friction from sand on your balls!

No, just live near the beach and can remember the friction from sand on your balls!

BEWARE of cheap wing mirrors. They tighten for a few weeks then slacken. The bolt also rust and eventually snaps when you have tightened it for the umpteenth time within an inch of its life. Paint also crumbles off the cheap chinese pig metal alloy.
Buy Hagus OEM mirrors from brickwerks only 22 quid or GSF BQ mirrors. BQ means best quality
Get convex if you can too if you can as they give a better view. Justkampers sell Hagus OEM convex mirrors for £26.
