HI having a sort out of the inside of the new autosleeper van I took down the ladder/bed guard from the roof room and it has occurred to me it does not reach the floor from the bed in fact it's quite a bit short am I missing something? or is it not used as a ladder just a bed guard perhaps it is supposed to rest on something can't for the life of me see what. probably a stupid question but I don't know the answer.

it's not a ladder, it just stops stuff emptying out of the roof when you brake.
to get in the top, our children accessed it from the cooker (standing on the cover)

In a promotional article I once read it stated that the official use of the ladder is to prop it against the work surface so that you can easily climb onto that. From there you have to shimmy your way up to the top. Think there was even a picture. We've tried it and it works, only really necessary for kids though. Also be careful the ladder doesn't slip.

Page 10 of the AS Trident manual calls this thing both a 'storage restraining guard', and a 'ladder' almost in the same breath! As you state, the thing is not long enough to reach the top bunks, so the only way up is onto the worktops.

I definitely wouldn't put a full adult weight on those skinny rungs - a 'elf an safety NO-NO!

What it needs is one of those telescopic ali ladders - but that's just more junk to cart around

Thanks guy's I don't intend to use it as a ladder, Having not had one before I was curious as to how it was supposed to work as it didn't reach I will use it as a guard to hold all the extras my wife is bound to put up there, I assume that is something all wives do. I live right by the coast and a lot of campers turn up at the weekends to do wild camping I can't believe how much stuff some of them carry just for a weekend at least I know where they put it now.
