Thinking of getting a cool box for the camper? Who got one and what's the best to get? And where from?
Thanks

I got one from Halfords on offer, looked round loads of places and it was the best deal. It runs of a cigarette lighter or mains. Really good box Image

We have an igloo 5 day cooler on wheels - sits outside when we camp. It's huge but we're a big family. You can still just about get ice cubes on day 5 for your gin & tonic and it doubles as a seat - does however take up most of our boot space when travelling.

Got one from aldi a few weeks back runs in 12 volt or when at a site can plug into 240 volt. I well impressed with it , goes down to around 3'c and will fit a wine bottle stud up(or several ) if memory served me right 39 quid.

Coleman xtreme. We put 3-4 bags of ice in on the way off on a weekend away.....tinnies still ice cold 3-4 days later. We have an Outwell 12v/mains which is also quite good.

The xtreme keeps the tinnies colder but the 12v one doesn't run out of ice! Horses for courses and all that :D

I got one of these and it is great. Dometic as well if you look in the back of the book.

you can fill 2 litre bottles with water freeze them and they will keep cold for ages,(in the esky)also the bags in wine casks can be filled with water and frozen, also the wine cash bag can be blown into and used as a mini pillow!

No but like all boxes the more often you open it the quicker they thaw and if we can we swap them for fresh ones we do if the campsite has a freezer . We're very pleased with it, its a world away from cheap £30 ones that we had before.

Just for anyone considering a cool box that runs off 12 volts, in case you had not factored it in, bear in mind that, depending on size, they use between 3 and 7 amps from your battery, roughly equivalent to a headlight bulb. OK whilst on the move, but will rapidly deplete an average leisure battery when parked up.

You don't always need it plugged in! I, Because once its cold it stays cold!! Plus the the Halfords one has has a dial on the back to adjust the speed of the fan. So its on high when driving and turn it to min when parked up. Its absolutely fantastic. Shopped around quite a bit and its the best one i found, quality and size wise.
