I have had the external tank off the Westy for a while. I have put it back on and as part if this leak tested the joints and found that there are bubbles coming from the tank end of the large nut which bolt to the regulator. I have close the valve tight and the bubbles have stopped( washing up liquid is what I am using as leak detector)

If I removed the large nut and put some ptfe tape around it I guess as long as I am sensible should be problem solved? Any one got experience of this and is it a left or right hand thread?

If you need to use ptfe tape, use a gas-specific ptfe tape which is normally yellow and is slightly thicker than the white ptfe for water applications.

Also, as a leak detector you will need to mix washing up liquid with some water to generate bubbles at a leak. Neat washing up liquid is nowhere near effective.

Lastly, a left hand thread on propane is often, but not always, denoted with a notch around the nut (see below)
