gas cooker (640x479).jpg

Hey Peeps,

Got a couple of queries.. they are simple but no harm in asking.

1) Does anyone know if im missing a connector here...between tap connector and water pipe... as when the submersible pump is switched on water spews out at this point... or is it just a case of using lots of plumbers tape.
2) Ive never been able to figure this ignition out. Is this type of stove a push to ignite? cos nothing happens...im sure it worked when we bought the bus.
3) I want to get Bus to start first time.. I currently have to pump the accelerator.. until it eventually starts. Mechanic says could be faulty auto choke. £45 to fix. what do u experts say?
4) Planning a trip to Brecon Beacons for Green Man festival. Anyone been? Any advice?

Thanks

hose should just push onto that barb and not leak, if it leaks check the hose for a split, or a split in the barb. it also needs to be a tight fit, if its not tight a small jubilee clip might help. Did it ever fit?
for the hob, i havent seen many with a ignitor, most you turn on then light gas with a lighter or similar

Wrong size hose! The inner bore should be close to the size of the spigot not the barbs on it.

Thanks Oldie.. yea the bore is wrong size for spigot but right size for sub pump.
Just thought I might be missing something as the guy we bought the van off said it was working fine.

Put the hose in boiling water to soften it (when you have the correct smaller bore hose) to stretch it over the smaller spigot. You will never get that hose to seal on the tap connection. You could buy a plastic adapter to step down to the smaller spigot but, to my way of thinking, why add an extra joint to possibly leak?

3. To start the van from cold depress the accelerator twice and turn the key.
Is how you are supposed to do it according to VW.

If you have to cotinually pump the pedal then it would suggest the choke flap is stuck
Just free it off and oil the mechanism

thanks for the help guys.

Jubilee clip worked a treat on hose/tap.

thanks kev, I wasn't employing the proper technique with 2 depresses of accelerator.
Now it almost starts, just have to press accelerator again when its turning over.
