Tight engine

Hi all,yes the engine is very tight 2,500miles after new rings, big end shells and crankshaft oil seal(flywheel end)
It was a bit tight when I finished the rebuild but I thought it was due to the new piston rings!
Oil and water temperature normal as is oil pressure.
How tight?well I can't turn the engine by hand!!but the engine runs (max speed 65mph).
Is it possible that the crank oil seal could be causing the problem?(I might have fitted crookedly!!)
Any ideas?
Ta.

Sounds like you've done an extensive rebuild, did it turn ok after each bit of the rebuild? What about crankshaft end float? I wouldn't have thought a wonky seal would cause it to be so tight

As above if everthing was free as it should be through the rebuild then it is probably crankshaft end float, when I was young and even more in experienced I put an extra shim in a beetle engine to tighten the enfloat and when I drove the car the oil pressure between the shims caused the crank to seize. Don't want to be a doom merchant but it is worth checking before any damage is caused.

Thanks Dazco, yes I'm a bit puzzled ,the end float is set in the middle of the crankshaft by two shims.
I think the seal is rubbing against the back face of the flywheel?.
Will check the end float,ta.
