Hi there,
I have a high top van at the mo with a emc roof on it,but there is rust under the front and back corners and the roof is going to have to be lifted up and te rust treated.
Anyway my dilemma is while I am at it should i go the whole hog and change to a pop top roof?
I have always liked the look of pop tops and can see the advantages to having one over a high top.
Is it going to be easyish to do,is it a case of taking high top off and then bolting the pop top on?

What's you opinions on this and where would the best place to get one from?

All help appreciated thanks :ok dazz

depends on what roof you pick  also if you are doing this to save a proper repair of the roof then think on that a pop exposes loads of roof so it would have to be cosmetically correct whereas on a hitop it dont matter

Well I don't think it has rotted through and I ain't going to know until I have lifted the roof off.

Is it possible to lift the roof up and support on some 4x4timber and then if I don't get the rot sort on that day I can put the roof back on and hold it down with ratchet straps for the time being?
I won't be driving it or anything but it will be outside?

What are the pros and cons of having either roof?

Cheers dazz

I never really remove them for work ,simply lift them and support on some stout timbers, then have a look-----seee  and yes no probs ratcheting down
choice? well i prefere the look of pops and like them but there is no storage when its down plus if your all year wild then warmer and quieter in a hitop

Oh yeah I didn't think about losing the storage above which is a good point but as you I to like the look of pop tops more.
How easy is it to separate the roof from the silicon,do you run a thin sharp knife around the roof and then lift up?

Well after telling the misses how much a new pop top would be she said scrub that idea ,so it looks like we're sticking with the high top  .

Anyway if you could let us know any tricks you have for splitting the high top off of the silicon that would be great MM.

I see :rofl I have had a look around at it seems it might just be silicon? With 1 metal bracket at the back with 1 rivet in but I could be wrong ,I shall have a dig around and see what I can find.
