AAZ 1.9TD T25 camper

Someone has most probably put the water pump belt on the wrong way so that the water pump doesn't function correctly. You will have to take it off to ascertain which is the correct way. (Not uncommon for someone to do this not realizing that there are two different pumps).

looks like my belt is on the wrong way,OMG i hope it is as simple as that, i think i have the know- how and the tools to change the belt,,,,,just

Flat belts usually drive the pump anticlockwise, v belts clockwise. But this doesn't always hold true especially if someone has changed the pulley! As I said , the only way to know for sure is to take the water pump off and physically check. My 1Y had an anticlockwise pump with a flat belt on originally in its donor vehicle but I changed it back to a v belt as per the 1.6 diesels so now runs a clockwise one.

if i understand you properly, this is not a V belt, this is a belt with length wise grooves, and on your pic, i have had the belt both ways and it makes no difference, just took it out for another run and once it gets to 55mph the temp goes right over, if i drop it down to 45-50 it drops to ¾,
i have tried it with and without the thermostate in- no difference,
i have tried it with the aux pump running constantly and with it removed and a piece of 1" pipe in-no difference

It is possible that the impeller has come loose on the water pump. Has happened to some. Yet again it requires removal of the waterpump.
It certainly doesn't sound like it is the head gasket to me. You would have other symptoms also.
Maybe you have a blocked radiator or an airlock. Have you checked the temp of the radiator all over after a run? (keeping the engine running)

I have just flushed mine out and with it up to temp it is around 75 degrees all over with no cold spots - worth checking with a cheapo infra red thermometer.
Have you checked that the hoses are connected up correctly?

Hot comes from the waterpump, cool goes to the cyl. head.

i have got 3 pipes coming from my water pump



it looks like, to me, from the left of the engine,
one goes from the engine to the water pump,
middle one goes from the water pump to the water bottle,
one with the therm in goes straight to the front rad,
hope the pic helps
if the water is circulating in the header tank, does that mean the pump is alright (coz it is circulating)

Should be ok but you will still see some circulation even if the pump is the wrong way round also! Check that the pipe from the pump goes to the higher of the two on the radiator and check that you have no cold spots on the rad indicating blockage.

someone has just mentioned timing, but it seemed to be running sweet,
if the timing was out, would that cause the overheating problem

What was the engine and the pump taken out of?

yes the pipe goes to the top,no cold spots on rad, i have had the timing checked and that is ok

any ideas what i can try next

What temps are you seeing on the rad?
Are you getting any air at all in the expansion bottle?

the rad is red hot
i do not know what you mean by air in the expansion bottle, the water level does not drop at all

the heat coming out of the heaters at the dash board, within a couple of hundred meters is RED HOT

Its easy to remove the cylinder head off the engine block.No need to drop the engine just take your time removing hoses and parts fitted to the cylinder head.Done this job many times on diesel engined T25s.I remove the inlet&exhaust manifold for ease of removal off the block others may disagree.

Well, it sounds more and more like an airlock/blockage or poorly waterpump in the engine if it is getting that hot quickly.(does the rad get to the same temp?) There doesn't seem to be any symptoms of head gasket problems still as you say that it runs well and you are not getting air produced. Did you use a new thermostat/test the old one for fully opening. I had overheating from a faulty thermostat that didn't open fully. Similarly, running without a thermostat is a good idea as it doesn't direct the water correctly. Have you bled the system properly?
