1980 Aircooled 4 speed g/b bush issues

hi all!
I'm after a bit of advice regarding my gear linkage bushes and (as it turns out upon removal) the rods in general.
I have recently bought a 1980 Aircooled 4 speed, and cant seem to find much advice regarding this on here or the wiki (unless im searching for the wrong things!)
After picking it up and driving it 20miles it pee'd its oil all over and was recovered up to a local VW specialist for diagnosis and repair. It was shifting fine before it went in.
When it came out, the shifting was really vague and in R, 1st and 3rd the rod grinds somewhere.
I ordered a shift linkage bush kit, but when i got underneath it quickly became obvious my shift linkage is completely different to the one the new bushes are for. having looked on here,
my linkage is completely different to all the ones on here.
When i took the rear linkage rod off, i found that the housing for sliding part thats mounted onto the gearbox (words espace me) was deformed, and the sliding rod was bent/not straight. Is the rod supposed to be bent?
Also, there is a bush above the fuel tank that looks uber worn, any idea how i go about replacing this (im hoping that im not going to have to take the tank out!)?
I am after four things i guess:
1: is my shift linkage supposed to be this 'simple? (im assuming the picture attachments show up in here?)
2: is the end change pin/rod supposed to be bent?
3: anyone know where i can get a new load of bushes for it?
4: anyone know where i can find an exploded diagram
also, how do i upload pics to my thread?
Thanks people!
