Zig CF9 help please?

I've read in several places online that when connected to hook-up, the Zig CF9 charges both batteries.

I've plugged mine in to test (not in vehicle at moment). With the mains switch on, and charger switch on, I have 12v (well actually about 14v) output on terminals 3-4 which is the leisure battery connections (as expected)

I also expected to have 12v on terminals 1-2 which are the car battery, but there's nothing.

I've had the lid off to look, and there's a pink wire, which goes from the charger switch to terminal 2 (car battery positive), which I thought would be the output to charge car battery?

See pics below - does anyone know if the CF9 actually does charge both batteries from mains, or have any ideas how this is supposed to work? (I thought pink spade might be on the wrong terminal, but I've tested and no other terminals have 12v on them)

I have a CF9B in my Merc - it only charges the leisure batteries. It is only a basic 3 or 4A charger anyway. Quite honestly there is no need to connect it to the vehicle battery, use a split charge relay and just use the Zig as a distribution board. These things were designed for caravans basically so aren't ideally suited for our type of use. Waste of time putting one in IMHO, far better to use a decent mains charger and fuseboard/distribution board coupled with a split charge or battery to battery system like the Sterling products.

Thanks for that - just what I wanted to hear!

It was just confusing me as even websites that sell the unit, claimed that it charges both batteries - and looking at the circuit inside - I couldn't see how that was possible (and didn't really see the point in charging vehicle battery)

I was thinking of putting in a split charge relay and making my own little distribution board, but just wanted an easy option really, and a nice looking "retro" panel (instead of me getting the Dymo labeller out! )
