rear wheel stud question

I have currently got 17inch wheels on my van, however I have decided that they are too big and I don't really like the way they drive.

My question is this: I currently have longer studs on the rear to accommodate these wheels. I am looking to put standard wheels back on for the time being until I decide what wheels I want. Will I have to change the rear studs back to standard or can I still use the longer studs with standard rims. I would like to keep them if possible as im sure at some point I will decide what wheels I actually want and no doubt they will need longer studs

You can still use them, you will just have lots of thread showing through the nut

presumably it wont be so much that the hub caps wont fit over them. As long as the hub caps will fit over the studs then I will leave them as they are

You can always fit 10mm spacers to take up the extra stud length.

Cracking, I didn't think of that. Pretty obvious when you think about it.

That will buy me some time to decide on wheels. All I know so far is they must be 16s.
