Snapped rear brake bleed nipple clean off. Any tricks?

One side went smoothly, other side snapped clean off flush with surface. Tried insitu banging in a small spline tool but they either twist themselves or ream out hole. If I remove cylinder can I drill it out and retap hole, or is it new cylinder time? I'm concerned swarf will enter the system and cause untold damage on seals in the future.

For the price of a new cylinder I replace - saves a lot of faffing around. But then you have the problem of seized pipe joints! No job is simple on an old van. :D

As OBG says. Not worth the effort. They're only £30 for a pair of new ones.

If the fluid changing's been ignored for long enough for the bleed nipple to seize that solid, then the fluid will have been horribly damp, leading to the inside of the cylinder being probably pretty bloody knackered anyway.

Thanks both. If I take one into nearest GSF for a new pair will they be able to supply (from stock)? Got to put van back together Fri AM before going off camping Fri PM.

Get on the phone NOW to Brickwerks, and get 'em to send you a pair on next-day delivery.

Your local GSF branch might have 'em in stock, they might not. A quick phone call would tell you their stock levels. You might also want to check what brand cylinder they'd supply - at least with BW you know it's a top-notch Bendix one.

Ordered spesh Syncro 16" ones from BW. I'll be waiting by the letter box on Friday like a doggy waiting for the postman.
