Leisure Battery

Has anyone else had trouble fitting a leisure battery under the seat or there van or is it just me? I've got a good one from a previous vehicle-none VW-and its about 30mm too high. I was thinking of having the box cut out and rewelded a little deeper to accommodate the larger battery, or can you get shallower batterys with a good output?.

Yep, the wiki is spot on as usual.
Can you fit your leisure battery somewhere else ?
For the sake of £40 its not even worth contemplating cutting anything IMHO.
I got two cheapy car batteries from the local automart and have one under each front seat.
They have lasted nearly two years so far - £60 well spent. However, it may be worth spending a little more to get a good quality battery. (ie one with a four year garauntee).

dubstar, you can just fit your "big" battery in and just leave the lid open, thats what i did and its never a problem.

Yeah, I suppose I could leave the lid open. I was thinking of doing that anyway, or moving the battery to the cupboard under the sink, but then it's a waste of space. I've got a good leisure off another van-Fiat-that I had, but it's about an inch too tall. And I struggle to get the seat to turn 180 anyway to get to the space to put the battery in. Mines lhd. I might try and see if the lid will stay open, or I'll flog my current leisure battery and get a smaller one.

mines a lhd and the number of times ive needed to turn the drivers seat 180, is . . . never, infact i cant see why they put 2 swivel seats in anyway. its hardly a winnebago.

Ditto, I actually considered taking the swivel base off and selling it.

I've turned it sideways a few times, but not for any particular reason other than the novelty of being able to do it! If I do turn it the full 180 then it just faces the side of my sink unit. Handy for staying seated and doing the washing up I suppose.
