Maybe undoing drop link nut woukd allow the suspension arm to drop lower giving s bit more movement.....

Thank you Mr Oldie, I was attempting to say ...there must be a knack to it. Maybe undoing the link arm to lower suspension arm would allow greater downward travel.....it was so easy to get out! Going to Glastonbury on Weds!

just whip the 2 bolts/allen bolts of the top balljoint and let the lower arm drop, that or reclamp the springs in a greedier manner, i hate mech stuff , much too oily and dirty

Looks like the spring clamps are a little too short to give you enough compression.

I had trouble getting mine back in on my own too.... as others have said try re compressing the springs further, sometimes putting the spring compressor on upside down will give you better clearance as the spare thread can foul and make compressing further diffucult.
Get someone to help you, it can be a pain on your own.... a tyre lever on the lower wishbone and a fat friend leaning on it can help, also having someone to give extra force pushing it back in will help.
If you can get another shorter set of spring compressors , then compress as much as you can , fit the second set of shorter compressors so that you can remove the longer ones and maybe this will give you more room all round to work.
Martin.

Thanks for your help guys. In the end undoing the drop link made about an inch difference which gave me space as well as winding up the spring compressors a bit.
