Have you eliminated the possibility that this is an aerial fault (poor signal or booster) by plugging the unit into your house hold aerial.

Aye, 48 channels is low result for most areas and although the channels show up, they might be too weak to work properly. Do what Martin says ^^^

(I get 80+ channels
including the audio only ones where I live and that is only on a simple aerial in the (fibre glass) roof of the van)

I find the direction the aerial is pointed is crucial. I have just a bog standard aerial I bung up in the high top but it takes a bit of experimentation if I can't see any houses in the vicinity with aerials that all point in the direction I'm after.

So you are telling us that you haven't got the old aerial connection still in place at the back of the TV?
Most peeps have cable but unless you have cut off your aerial lead it will still be there.

If you go to the sub menu's you will find an option to 'power' the aerial with the inbuilt 5v supply. This will help matters no end!
Instructions are available from the avtex website if you need em!

I have used Avtex for years, the latest TV's are excellent. 48 channels seen by the aerial is very low and I am not surprised you cant actually see them on screen - some of them may well be radio and data channels anyway. Typically if I cant find 60 plus channels then I am unable to get a decent picture but with a decent signal I pick up well over 100 channels. I bet it will work fine if your aerial is in the right direction in another location.
