Hi all

First time poster.

I am looking to install three point seat belts in back of my camper (Yogi) so that i can attach two child seats.

Any tips / recommendations as to who could do it for me? I am in North London.

Thanks

Ian

we had them fitted in ours last year by these guys http://www.quickfitsbs.com/

we really struggled to find a company that would install first fit seatbelts because of the legal aspect. Loads will re-fit, but we found only 2 in the UK that would do a new first install. Luckily for you they were both 'darn sarth'

not cheap but they did a top job

I'm a very recent DIY T25 man.

Never worked on cars before.

I ordered both rear belts from BRICKWERKS.

Followed the instructions on the WIKI on this site.

Really easy.

Don't forget to sign up and get your Brickwerks discount before you buy.

I think both cost me £180 inc shipping. Fitting took about an hour with the L/H, and a bit longer with the R/H as the anchor is behind my cabinet.

If you need help, drop me a PM.

Honestly...... My advice..... Get your tools out, get stuck in, get the screws out, get the panels off. The sense of achievement will be worth it. You'll save yourself £££s too!

Don't be surprised if you find rust through. But as I've found out, that's the fun of having one of these things; getting to know it. When you find the rust, you then sort that too. It just rolls from there really.

It one of my jobs on the to do list. I've got a panel van (so obviously no mounting points) and ive got some 3point seat belts out of a scrap people carrier. Do they need welding in or can I just bolt them in with spreader plates? I hardly ever heve as senders sat in the back but it just thinking long term if I have kids.

Flying chunk, interested you say you had to mount behind your cabinet, is yours a 3/4 r&r bed? Would be interested if you have any pics if yours finished as just about to tackle 2 3 point belts on mine in a few weeks.

But in my converted panel there were no upper mounting points so had to get the welder out...

We had two point belts in the back of our Westy when we bought it and so we changed these to three point belts. Both of the belts have all the fittings etc on the sliding door side. The one nearest the door uses one of the Brickwerks kits with the retractor fitted behind the lining panel so it is out of the way of the bed - the various mounting points for this belt were already present. The other belt, for the seat furthest from the door was fitted by: Seat Belt Service. The retractor is mounted high up on the rear pillar out of the way and there are two receivers fitted to the old lap belt attachment points - the belt basically has two tongue 'ends' that clip into the receivers to give a three point belt - this image on their site shows the retractor in position.

When the guy from Seatbelt Service fitted the mounting points for this second belt there was no welding involved. He basically drilled through the rear pillar to behind the air vent and just bolted through the pillar to mounting plates on the vent side - something similar to this one which Brickwerks sell.

It's worth noting that if you are fitting belts in the back for child seats, then you should try to get receivers with short 'stalks', so that the receiver body only just sticks up above the surface of the seat. Receivers with longer 'stalks' are fine for adults using the belts but because of the way the seatbelt routes through the base of some child seats we initially had a problem in that it prevented the seatbelt holding the child seat tight to the bench.

Good luck with it.

Just to add to this thread.
We are currently reproducing the original seatbelt mounts for retro fitting seatbelts into the rear of panel vans.
These are copied from original T3 kombi (253+) seatbelt mountings and will make a easier, tidier, safer install.
Not back from the machine shop yet but they are currently being drawn up.
I expect a month to 6 weeks.

Is there anything to stop the intertia reel being placed on the rear pillar and doing away with the shoulder loop? May not be as tidy but....

if not, can I just get the lower mounting point that Brickwerks produce as I want to put red seatbelts in throughout and I can only find one supplier.....

Thanks,

Pete

If you have a look at this page on Securon's website (they're a seatbelt manufacturer) you can see that is one of the layouts that they show.

Many thanks, it helps to know where to look :D

Will get the set ordered so they can go in alongside everything else.

Back now stripped apart from headlining so that is today..... looks bare but no rust anywhere. Lots of holes from pipes and screws to fill and seal....
