Oh for the love of F@#%! ... the oil switch again

I've been sufferening for a few weeks with the buzzer of doom, which would go off at seeminly random times. Steady speeds, straight lines, flat roads etc. I put it down to a faultly high/low oil pressure switch (the top one by the water pump). Any ways I changed it a couple weeks back for a new grey one and all has been well since.
then today
oil light came on and started flashing, but no buzzer (Oil level is OK). Wiki suggests that I may have put the wrong switch in, maybe I should have used a White one. I'm thrilled at the prospect of changing it again as the switch is located in such an easy & convient access area.
you may now point and laugh

or could it be that the switch is fine and something else is going wrong?

Check the condition of the terminals in the white junction where the brown wires connect to the engine bay loom at the front left near the t/stat housing. Mine were green and furred up creating high resistance and thus causing false signals.

At what revs iirc the revs need to be above 2000 rpm to trigger the buzzer
Did you change the cable over the engine and fit new crimps?
I had the same once and this cable measured ok with a multimeter but was intemittant changed it and it was ok
Id leave the grey switch i hope it wasnt from gsf?

Does it only happen with the stereo on?
Im thinking the 18 inch subwoofer could be affecting it

Came on when I was driving (about 40mph) so above 2000rpms. Also stayed on during tick over. I changed the crimp but left the cable as was. Though thinking about it I had to extend the wire to the low/low switch as I re-fitted it via a hose and t-bar so that I could add a dashboard oil pressure gauge and switch, and I only joined the wires by terminal blocks. Maybe its become disconnected ... probably not as that would be too easy to fix
It will be a busy lunch time today

Check the wire to the low pressure switch hasn't rubbed through against the pushrod tube guards ... another common occurance.

I have a feeling that if the low pressure switch contacts to ground the light us on constantly not100% sure though

Low pressure to ground is indeed a constant light (I've been pottering about with mine for weeks lol

)

hmmmmmm interesting ...
I've just been for a poke about. Oil level is still ok, no signs of any leaks ... well ... no more than normal. But the wire I re fitted for the low low sensor has slipped from its cable tie a bit and has been resting on the exhaust manifold. Resulting in a few spots where the wire insulation has melted.
Hows this for a theory: both sensors are fine but the wire for the low low is shorting out on the exhaust / engine and going to ground, hence the warning light.
I just ran it for about 10mins and the light didn't come on once, but the wire was well away from the exhaust / engine.

Though from reading posts above that would give a constant light on not a flash. Grrrrrr

That would explain the flashing light and no buzzer.

Maybe your tacho feed wire is also a bad connection buzzer needs this to know you are over 2000 rpm so it thinks you are at idle and so just flashes the light
