Could be starter motor itself or the bush is my guess
Bush is cheap so try that
Also worth checking the connections while you are there

Had this problem a while back. Lots of headache and expense, to find it was a simple fix in my vans case.
Check the following:

Battery earth straps at battery and chassis and at gearbox 'nose' and chassis
Starter motor connections, especially solenoid
Starter motor bush (you have to remove starter motor for this one, but its all in the WIKI

I did all these, even replaced earth straps and battery and starter motor! Still had some 'lazy starting' issues.

Eventually my local old skool VW mechanic friend suggested an ignition relay to be wired in, due to the aged ignition wires and the resistance changes that do occur. Wish Id asked him first, as it cost all of £3, and havent had a problem since! I'd go so far as to suggest everyone does the ignition relay 'mod' to avoid the lazy start issue in the first place... :ok

It might be the same problem on your van, but either way, good luck with it....

^^^ yes maybe the trigger wire but to me this would happen when cold as well as hot, more likely someting else.
